I have a 1971 with the one piece bellhousing and a T14. I am working on a SM420 conversion and need a two piece bellhousing, actually just the bellhousing and not necessarily the adapter. Thanks

It is two pieces if you count the sheet metal flywheel cover. That can be easily made. The bottom two bolts come through the bell housing to
the SM420 and requires drilling out the holes. At least mine did. Make sure your clutch functions correctly before mating up the transmission.

You are correct that you can’t use the the t14 1 piece bellhousing with the adapter cast in. The 70 and prior bellhousing is what you need, no adapter is needed to adapt an sm420 to this bellhousing, just drill out 2 holes and bolt it up.
