`1971 cj5 configuration with tank at the rear.

The battery is fully charged and engine cranks well.
I lost all fuel pressure on my F134.
I purchased a replacement carter mechanical fp.
The pump went in with no issues... No fuel presure.
I used a vacuum pump to check to fuel to the pump. No problem there. I got fuel into the vacuum pump at the flex hose for the inlet of the pump.
I pulled the pump to see if the cam lobe was still there. I could fell the lobe.

I hand actuated the pump and heard it pull.

At this point I have only a couple possibilities:

The cam lobe is worn enough to the prevent the pump from working.
The pump is wrong or is bad. Carter M2195.

Any other thoughts from you guys?

    Thanks ECJ5!

The metal of the pump arm is softer than the cam lobe. You can rule that out. Are all of your fuel line connections good and tight? There are no new 2195s other than reproductions. From whom did you buy the pump?

Lines are tight. Checked and rechecked.

    Rockauto for the carter.

    Thanks for the replay.

Just one more question. Are you using rubber fuel line attached to straight-cut steel?

I had a similar issue when I went for a test drive after cleaning my fuel pump a couple months ago. Turns out one of the screws that hold the plate to the underside of the poppet valves had backed out, causing the diaphragm to hit. Have you had the pump apart at all to check the insides are all tight?

Second... Is the rod thats attached to the bottom of the diaphragm still still attached to the lever that sticks out of the back of the pump? I'm wondering if it came off or is broken off inside the lower part of the pump.

Question for those who are smarter than I am..... Is there any way the OP (or anyone else) could accidentally install the pump so that the pump arm either sits on the wrong side of the cam lobe or misses it all together?

    Good luck on your quest!
