In my 1971 cj5 I did some upgrades just like James's write-up. When done with the knuckle stud upgrade I checked to make sure I had full swing from stop top on both knuckles. However when I completed my tie rod flip and DOM tie rods and shorter pitman arm, I noticed that my knuckles with the tires on and full swing right and left was about a 1/2" from the stops. It is because I used a shorter pitman arm and I don't quite get a full swing right and left. So with that said, I can move the adjustment bolt to touch the steering knuckle or get a little longer pitman arm. I am going to 33"x10.50"x15" tires. I wonder if just lengthening the stop bolt that it will be just fine for the bigger tires.
    Any thoughts

I'ld leave it alone the knuckle stops will protect the knuckle and you might get a wee bit of extra travel as the suspension articulates.

Have you driven it with the mods you have made? I am curious if you can notice an increase in your turning radius as would be evidenced with the new 1/2" distance from the stop.

Dave I lost a little turning ability. Also with the 6" pitman arm it takes faster turning to move from stop to stop.

I’d put the 33s on first before making any changes. Depending on the tire width and wheel backspacing, you typically lose a fair amount turning radius when stepping up to 33s as the tires hit the frame/springs before reaching full lock. It might end up being perfect where it’s at and you can adjust the stops out accordingly.
