    HELLO GUYS
Have a '47 CJ2A with a 225 V6 motor. Installed a '66 mustang radiator and am wondering what radiator hoses have worked for you guys with this set up.
    thanks, Jim

    Jim,

I am sure someone has done this, and may be able to give you part numbers for the hoses they used, but in case nobody responds with that information, here are my thoughts.

When I need a radiator hose for a non standard application like this I shape a piece of coat hanger wire to get the bends I want, mark the two pieces of wire with tape so I know top from bottom, carry these wires with me to the parts store and look for a hose that comes close to that with enough length. Often have to trim to fit.

I found an upper radiator hose that fit my F-134 perfectly at a Tractor Supply store.

Become good friends with your local parts guy? Like going to a plumbing store. You know what you want but don't know the terminology. Have to see it to know.

I've got two random sections with a block heater as a union. The heater burnt out years ago.
Top used to be two sections with a chrome sink drain tube in the middle.

All we have around here are "KIDS" at the counter. The days of the walls being full of belts and hoses are also long gone.

Along with the walls of quality tools. The FLAPS I had accounts at had Proto, SK, and Wright. No instant replacements now.

May be different around here. Last summer I went to a local FLAPS with the hoses and belt off my 2A. The kid at the counter asked the usual questions about make and model and was totally stumped when he could not find anything that old in his computer. I asked if I could look at what they had and he walked with me to the back of the store where they had a wall full of hoses and belts. I found some that would work in ten minutes.

Went to the local oriellys and asked for a 14 x 3 air filter element. Kid at the counter acts like I have a hole in my forehead and says the filters are on the back wall. The boxes do
not list what size the element was inside. Normally I go with there with the numbers in hand, but I assumed something this elementary would be a cake walk. Now i began opening
boxes and laying the filter on the floor tiles to get the correct size. In high school and shortly after, I worked in a parts store. We had book racks the length of counter. If we did,nt
have the right part number, there were other parts that were numbered different but were the same part and could be subbed. I knew what was in the box. Today, if it is not
listed in the computer, they don't know what to do. Normally, I do my own research. I miss the books and wish I had my own!
Went to change out a warranty 225 starter...the one with extra mount hole...the picture online shows the hole and correct numbers. Exchanged starter, drilled and tapped the hole.

I have quite a few of those from the early 90's and prior I got from a couple of friends when one of the local FLAPS closed. Very handy for a vehicle with NO stock parts.

Looking back at my purchase history in Amazon I used Dayco 81171 for the upper and Dayco 81231 for the lower. Both are flex hoses. The upper fit perfectly for me. The lower is a really tight fit because of the bed involved and the proximity of engine to radiator. I think the lower hose is going to depend a lot on where your engine is placed so the lower hose I used may not work for everyone.

Hose looks like a factory fit. Trimmed a 1/4" off each end.
