What is the vertical distance supposed to be from the top rail of the tub side to the bottom flange of the tub under the door opening?

One side of my jeep is bigger than the other.

Mine measure 20.75" on both sides. I don't know if that's what is supposed to be, but it has not been changed.

You wouldn't by chance have the radius for the m170 passenger door opening.
Upper and lower at the .875" wide top edge...

Na your good I edited the title instead of a separate thread for more measurements. keep everything I need together. I'll eventually need the bump down for the spare and all.

    I also know you don't have a m170. :ninja:
I just need to verify dimensions before firing off the laser.

Since you have a CJ-5 for reference measurement, I would think you could get pretty accurate estimates from these side images:

I figure I'm within a half inch. It'll be Hella irritating if I'm off.

Looks like you've got too much space between the back of the door opening and the wheel well.

Unless you're going for a different wheelbase.

Nah. I think one side is smaller than the other.

The 46.25 and 44.75 would need to reflect a m170 I'll see about fixing this drawing it's supposed to be 101" wheelbase. Not a 117"wb coast guard Invader...

If anyone doesn't mind measuring a m170 tub they might have laying around that'd be great. Just note what you measure on the respective dimensions. I wasn't too concerned about the tire well but I can add that for others. (It'll get crushed by me)

Well I got some test pieces run after measuring the profile.
One could go real crazy and have the passenger side cut and formed with a few (dozen) bends.
But I decided It is way simpler to run a 3rd simple profile panel if one were to rebuild an m170 side.

The inside bend on the shelf needs a radius added to it and they broke the shelf wide

    I'm sorry, I don't really understand what you're trying to do/looking for.
I've got an M170 and some drawings.
You're looking for correct widths/profiles for the test piece in your hand?

Well it's a long story that involves Tequila...
My goal is to be able to reproduce the passenger side of a m170. This image is based on pictures and I need to know the actual dimensions for the door opening. The cross section above gives me the depth dimensions off of my CJ5.

    upload_2022-12-7_20-22-32.png

I'm not worried about the tire well partly because I'm shearing this out of scrap during lunch and brake time. I could have these cut on the laser but that's a lot of extra people to get involved.

If I do figure up the tire well than I can post up a drawing and dxf file for m170 owners to take to there local fabrication shop. I'm not in a position to make parts for others but I can get prints out there for restoration purposes...

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've also been 3d printing jeeps for my kids to play with on the wooden railway.

This might become another thread in the build section for my own jeeps purposes.

Dummy me. You already replied in another thread.
I should be able to research today.
Send me an email at oldjeeps@aol.com so I can send a link to wetransfer for a large image.

Well, You should have a link now, allowing you to download 2 drawings for a total of 1.5GB.
They are uncompressed tif files so don't be surprised it will take a while.

I don't know if they will be useful. I appears I only had the panel behind what you wanted, and the one for the other side, mostly with CJ6 details, but still amusing. There may be some profile dimensions that carryover.

    Sorry to disappoint...

I got these downloaded and reviewed. It confirmed my profile but interestingly the blueprint calls for a radius on just the outside shelf of the body with a standard radius on the interior brake, also worth noting that my tub is formed with the backing plates of the rail in place. Add some tolerance and they match!

My drawing is .875 outside to outside on the brim of the tub with a .9375 outside "shelf" measured inside to outside the blueprint is .75 inside to inside with 1" inside to outside. The material thickness of 18ga is .048 so.

    1+0.048+0.75+0.048
    Vs.
    .9375+.875

    Aka good E nuff

So... anyone got a pie plate of known diameter and a m170?
