I want to put a lift kit (Springs & Shocks) in the range of a 2" to 2.5" lift and a set of tires that will still clear the wheel wells and turning radius. 1962 CJ5 is the Jeep. What would be the tallest tire that would fit right and a good manufacture of a lift kit? Any recomendations for this set up. To be used on mild trail use with some rocks and no mud(not enought rain here for that) but also has to work in the snow and ice as we have that allmost 5 months of the year here. Thanks, Mark

I like 33s on a cj5. i really like the look, but with ony 2-2.5 inches of lift it will more than likely give you problems with rubing.

2.5" lift from BDS. Check Bob Supplee on the price, you'll be pleasantly surprised compared to the big catalog prices. Combine that with a 1" body lift and you can run 33s. Be sure to get longer shocks (recommend Rancho9000 adjustables) and Rancho bumpstops, 2" longer than stock.
I run this set up (Skyjacker softride instead of BDS) and it works extremely well.

i run a 2.5" bds with moore shackles (3/4" longer than stock) i also run 33x12.5's the only place i rub is at full turn to the left, and a little in the rear at full flex. the body lift i had in there stopped this, but i took the body lift out

Thanks I will give him a call! Still waiting to get the Jeep home. My check is in the mail from selling my M37 due anyday and can't wait to get started on the Jeep!!!! I am all pumped up to work on it been 6 months since I tore into a project and the shop is clean and ready for one. This will be a easy one compaired to the stuff I did befor. Much lighter parts to lift and unbolt. Mark

31" look nice and will not rub with 2.5" of lift. My 1964 CJ-5 below has a 2.5" with 31X10.5X15" Cooper mud terrains. Will go through most anything.

That looks nice. I am also thinking of 31" tires and your height looks like what I want on my Jeep. Thanks

After looking at your picture compaired to one of mine they look the same height? My front springs look way newer then the rear ones on it. I have a slight sag in the right rear side for some reason. I might be able to get away with a new set of rear ones and replace the shocks all the way around. Mark

I've got the 2" skyjacker soft ride and 33" TSL tires. I think this combo is one of the best. My grandpa thought it was ok also and he lives down there in Okanogan where you are. You probably know Howard & Eva.

Small World. If I think the Howard and Eva I know are the same people he knows me. Does he allways wear a Red Hat? Collects all kinds of stuff and lives up Salmond Creek Rd? If so he is a neat guy fun to talk to and I see him at the auctions I go to all the time. He will know who I am if you mention the M37 some time to him. I live on Cameron Lk Lp Rd outside of Okanogan up on the hill above town. Mark

Looks like mine did origionally without a lift. Factory springs and 31s. Went anywhere except where tire height limited it.
