D30 11" drums on a rear D44

    I split this topic into another thread or else my post would have been huge.

    I had a set of 11" drums from my D30 lying around because I went to disks. I recalled someone saying they would work on the rear D44 so I put them on this past weekend. They do fit but require a few slight modifications.

    1) I had to drill 2 new holes to get all the axle retaining plate bolts to fit. 4 of the 6 holes line up perfectly but the other 2 are way off. In the pic below you can see the 2 existing holes in the backing plate and the 2 new holes that need to be drilled.

    2) The center opening must be slightly enlarged to fit over the lip on the axle bearing. I'd say I probably opened the diameter up about 1/8".

    Other than these 2 things they bolt right up.

    Cool! I am gonna have to do the same for mine, I am gonna run a late model cj drum on my 44 and I noticed the center hole is a lot smaller...

    I used a rotary file (rasp) in a die grinder and it made quick work of enlarging the opening.
