Well I was just completeing my dana 27 2 hole steering knuckle tie rod flip. Everything had good clearance and I found no problems. So I finally got it all put together and took the jeep off the jack stands. Well when I was admiring my handy work I notice the pitman arm was hitting the long tie rod when the wheels were faceing forward. I quess when the full weight of the jeep was on the suspension it squatted a bit and caused the pitman arm to hit. So I took the pitman arm off and took all the measurement. Hoping I can find a pitman arm that is an 1" shorter center to center. Here is what I was using.

Center to center is currently 6 1/4"
    Drop of 1.5"
    Total length is 8 1/4"

This for a saginaw 800 powersteering box and standard tie rod ends.

I need the same pitman arm only 1" shorter.

Any thoughts of where to look for one?

Is the 1.5" drop needed? Mine is a 6.75" long arm but flat and it has no problems. The steering box centerline on mine is about 7" back from the face of the stock bumper.

I'm using a straight pitman arm from an Intermediate CJ on my 2a, but needed it to be about 1" shorter for tie rod clearance. Since the draglink end is oval shaped with the hole toward the tip there was enough material for the machine shop to drill and tap a new hole about 1" further in then cut off the excess. It was a pretty easy process and maybe an option for the arm you have.

Rich that just may be the right one for me. The 3/4" drop will put the drag link and the tie rod parallel to each other. I will give it a try.

I think I will go for a different pitman arm, mine doesn't have enough to cut off to be safe. Thanks for your input.

Grant the one Rich recommends I think will work fine. The one I have is 8 1/4" long from end to end. The drop I would like to have is 1" but 3/4" will be good. Thanks Grant for you picks.
