I am having a little trouble coming up with the correct tie rod ends for my steering linkage upgrade. It's a 1971 cj5. I have recently added a 2 hole knuckle to the passenger side. So I need those 2 tie rod ends, they are Moog ES140R for the Passenger side and a ES62L for the drivers side. The 2 I can't figure out is the 1 from the pittman arm to the drag link and the 1 that goes in the 2nd hole of the knuckle. Moog say's they can't help cause it is a modification. I am using DOM tie rod tubes and tapping the holes to 11/16" - 18. I prefer Moog however any good tie rod ends will be fine.

I *thought* these would all be the same as a Dana 30 once you have the 2 hole closed knuckle and Saginaw steering... I'm interested to see what happens...

Should still be 11/16-18 r/l for the draglink whatever brand you like.

Different application but those are the same numbers I used for my Dana 30, 2 each. Pitman arm used the same TRE.

This! There are all sorts of 11/16-18 TRE's out there that will work. Can you search Moog's web site for that thread? 60's Ramblers used that thread and I know that application had some straight TRE's that were pretty long. Long enough that when I went from the one hole knuckle to the two hole, all I had to do is use one of those long TRE's.

Isn't there a specific taper needed for the knuckle that varies by application?

For sure the Rambler versions use the same taper.

    I said 5/8" but I think I meant 11/16 - 18.

The ES140R will work. I bought 2 of them from Oldtime.

Now that I am putting the steering linkage together with the 2 hole knuckle. I need to cut the DOM so I have enough to adjust for toe in adjustment. I will be threading the DOM and using jam nuts. My question is how many threads need to be showing with the jam nuts on and tightened. I was guessing at about a 1/4" on bothe sides with nut in place?

1/4" should be more than enough. I have a similar mod on mine, and I only have one thread (less than 1/8") showing on the ends.
