The crank shaft/pulley nut (crank type) just turns free (stripped) and won't come off. My dilemma is, I don't want to cut or grind it off to find the crank threads are stripped. Do these nuts strip easily or at least before the crank threads do? It's a stamped type nut so the crank could be inserted with a little cross dowel inside. I'd like to replace the seal and cover gasket but this isn't the year I want to rebuild. It runs pretty good.

    Thanks,

You might try a small puller... attach with legs putting some pull pressure on the nut... then turn the nut/puller a bit...you'll have to tighten the puller as you loosen the nut...
and just maybe it will work ;)
