I mounted my transmission fairly high up in the Jeep to there was a lot of width sticking up through the floor. I not only sectioned an only sectioned the floor in length but also in width. I made my overdrive shifter mount high and in line with the transmission shifter which caused extra complications.

    Compared to stock:

If I did it again, I think I would have skipped the factory style D18 twin stick setup and made a triple shifter with the OD/transfercase levers on one pivot using the original single stick transfer case front cover/shift rails.

I also lined the underside of the Trans tunnel with this stuff.
Not sure if that was a good idea but we'll see...

I used a big square boot for a Mack truck or something. Found a chrome trim ring from some truck stop retailer. This allowed the large shift tower of the SM420 plenty room to fit and move around. The cheap repop boots split just sitting there.

Later I went with Stronghold vinyl boots https://www.strongholdshiftboots.com/. I had to use the sewing machine to resize a Dodge transfercase boot for the overdrive, but I really like how they turned out. Since it's all black, pictures don't really do them justice but they look really good:

002 boot.jpg That came out pretty slick. Do you remember which twin stick boot you used? They have a 72-75 and a 76-79. They both look the same and no dimensions are given.
Yours looks like it would work well in 20230305_203151 resized.jpg my case.

Updated with Stronghold boot. This has an SM420 for perspective.

    Your setup looks clean.

I bought the twin stick boots for vintage CJ twin sticks. It uses a round bezel. I bought a stock bezel and bent it to fit my custom floorboards:

Thanks. I wanted to keep the transmission tucked with no spacers on the cross-member. That should work as my set up is similar to yours.

Well I got the e brake hooked up this morning, which was the last thing to do for this swap. I can officially say it's done now, 11 months later. What a nightmare this project has been!
