I just got the cabin heater installed on my Dauntless CJ5 project. Driving around I notice that the air coming in is pretty warm even with the temp selector full cold. I see why people used coolant shutoff valves on the heater circuit in this era. When I removed the heater from my F head powered Jeep (never going to put a top on that one) I put in a bypass hose. Then I put a clamp on that hose to see if I could just remove the hose and plug the ports. The engine didn't like that; it got much hotter than normal. This experience makes me leery of putting a shutoff on the V6. Does anyone have experience with using a heater shutoff valve on the Dauntless? When I got this Jeep there was a bypass hose installed so I've never seen it run with no coolant flow through the heater circuit.
