I am hoping to purchase this Jeep Friday. I will probably put regular tags on it as I will drive it more than the allowable distance for an Antique tag. Did a 71 come with any sort of emission control items like a evap canister or anything else? We don't test in KY yet but I want to know if I need to dig anything up if we start. Thanks!

The systems used, for each year, are given in the TSM for that year. Maybe someone will post the specs for '71, or you could buy the TSM once you hae the Jeep.

    This is for 1972:

Only a chance you won't need vapor recovery. Should be obvious from the Jeep once you get it - these years used an expansion tank under the rear quarter with many small hoses between the fuel tank and expansion tank. No charcoal canister, instead going through a liguid chack valve to the crankcase. I would upgrade to the later style vapor canister filled with charcoal - not difficult.

Possibly of interest - 6000# GVWR was the break point for a lot of these systems. In 1974 (?) Jeep increased the minimum GVWR of the Wagoneer, Cherokee and J10 to 6025#.
