Does anyone have a book that references part numbers? I'm working with someone who has lots of NOS stuff. but his collection is all referenced by AMC's part numbers. I need a part number for the '74 Renegade's passenger fold / tumble seat, latch's plastic covers. It is a two piece plastic cover. See pic (bad pic sorry). Any help would be great in getting that part number ( Or if you have them... )

I'm surprised you don't have the '74-80 parts book. It's available on CD-ROM from RockAuto for ca $25.

Thank you much... I never needed part numbers until now. most places you just can say I need "ABC". But the guy only references his parts by the number on the box. I went yesterday and googled that book you have. But saw the book available (reprint) for $100 which was crazy to spend that for one part. But I guess it would be very handy to have going forward. I'll check ROckAuto now. Much cheaper. Just hope I still have a CD drive laying around!

Main problem about the online listings - they are often wrong, either about the application or the year-range.

Look up the Jeep PN in the book. RockAuto has a PN input, or search generally on the internet.

Be aware that the parts book only shows what may be the original part number for that part.
AMC would go on to change many part numbers. Mother Chrylser even more.
The old paper parts price books would have some if not most of those changes listed.
But those were mostly tossed out when a new parts price book arrived, generally every 3 months or so.
Our dealership kept really good records of those part number changes.
It can be frustrating having a newer part number and not being able to trace it backwards.

Jeez...good points. Jeep just doesn't make things easy on us! Well the guy ran those two numbers Tim helped with and he doesn't have the parts. But said he'd let me know if he ever finds them. I should walk into my local Jeep dealer say "hey need these two numbers, oh yeah they're from 1974!" They'd probably laugh in my face :)
