I have a dana 300 t case and the t 176 4 spd tranny...does anyone have a pic of how these go back together?? I tried yesterday and couldnt get the stud mounted in the t case to go into the tranny?? Is it tricky to get them to go back together?? Can the stud be taken out ?? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks sam

I don't have a picture but can tell you from recent experience that the tranfer case has to sort of slide in angled down and angled from the driver's side.

Let me see if I can explain. The tranfers case has the shifter that needs to be removed. Even with this removed there is the shifter mount that is still attached to the transfer case. The transfer case has three stud bolts that must be lined up. In order to do so, you have to come at the transmission from the drivers side and sort of angle the transfercase around the lip of the transmission. Once you do this, the stub bolts will slide into place and you can put the nuts on.

In all of this it is trial and error (mostly error... smile). But you might also while you are bringing the transfercase and the tranny together have to jiggle the transfercase u-joint thingys (sorry don't know their name) to get the slots in the tranny and transfer case to line up.

For me it was a three person job, me, my son and my wife. I had the nice situation of mating the tranny and transfercase while both were off the jeep. This helped a lot but still did not mean there were no errors.

    Hope this helps.
