I rebuilt the Rochester 2g on my dauntless in the 67 plow jeep. Before I did this it had an off idle stumble if you hit the throttle quick it would fall on its face. Well it idles much better now and I adjusted the air/ fuel screws but it still has the off throttle stumble. When I rebuilt the carb I only found 1 check ball is it possible there are 2 and the second one was stuck and if so could this be the problem?

I'm just throwing darts at ideas here, I would look at the float level and accelerator pump linkage. Sounds like you might be opening the throttle plates a little ahead of the pump circuit or the float level might be a touch low or a combination of both.

There are supposed to be two check balls. Usually what happens is the wrong ball is put in the wrong place. The ball that goes into the accelerator pump well is the smaller of the two. When they put the bigger one in it sticks in the well and blocks off the two squirts of gas needed for the venturies.

Good call when I get some time I will see if I can get the other ball out and when I’m in there I’ll check the float level

When I rebuilt my 2g there were 2 check balls. The aluminum check ball from the kit went underneath the accelerator pump. The steel check ball went underneath the “T” pin on the other side of the carb. It runs great with that setup.
