So I need a 10.5" GM clutch kit I believe, I'm not sure because I don't have an old clutchto look at to compare! What is the application I should ask for? I already called NAPA and the guy I talked to couldn't help me out unless I had an application for him to look up. Said there were to many variables? I want the whole kit with the throwout bearing. I ordered a new conversion pilot bushing from Novak so that part is taken care of.

So if anyone has a part number or what vehicle I should say for them to look up that would be great.

    From Novak's site:
    .

    Edit:

    What is the source of your 231 V6 (3.8 L)? I used a luk last week, model number 01-029, for my 225 V6 (3.7 L).

Are you using the Dauntless flywheel with the ridge around the perimeter or a flywheel that is completely flat?

My limited expereince tells me that it takes a special, if you will, flywheel to fit inside the perimeter ridge or step on a Dauntless flywheel. If it is a standard flat flyweel, a standard Chevy 10 1/2 clutch will bolt right up. A standard Chevy 10 1/2 will match the bolt holes on a Dauntless flywheel, but the pressure plate will probably not fit all the way down on flywheel. Another one of the reasons I have decided not to use my Dauntless flywheel and look for a 231 flywheel. Still looking, BTW.

Centerforce makes a pressure plate that will fit inside the ridge on the Dauntless flywheel. Kinda pricey for me though. Since my search for a 231 flywheel has been unproductive lately I may have to buy an new Centerforce flywheel. All I have found new so far have been Centerforce and Hayes. A new one of those will be expensive enough. I will have to stick with my cheap regular Chevy flywheel.

Nickmil will probably post soon with the straight scoop on clutches.

I'm using the 231 flywheel. I figured out already that I need a 10 1/2 standard GM clutch. The problem is I just need an application so I can go down to the parts store and say, "I need a clutch for a...." Or so I can search for it online because it will probably be cheaper than in town here.

I'm sorry I didn't give you the information you needed the first time. Its a shame auto parts counter guys can't look up something without the computer.

Anyway, I bought a clutch, pressure plate and release bearing from these guys for less than $50 bucks.

I didn't see it listed in their ebay store right at the moment, but they had it listed as a corvette clutch that had an easier release. I wanted a clutch like that because most of my driving will not be off-road and I plan to use a hydraulic clutch.

Anyway, I'll bet that if you call this guy, he will know exactly what you are looking for when you tell him you want a standard 10 1/2" Chevy clutch and you intend to use it on a Buick 231 flywheel.
