My new clutch won’t release, I think it’s because the new release bearing is too short (couldn’t find a longer replacement at my FLAPS or online) and I have run out of “throw “ with my current fork pivot.

So I bought an adjustable pivot stud (and new fork) but it appears that the retaining spring will impinge on the adjustment lock nut. The image is adjusted all the way long, the shorter I adjust, the greater the contact.

Is there any reason I can’t just grind some relief as I marked on the spring? Or if you guys have a better idea, I’m all ears!

    Thanks!
    Andy

Standard release bearing with carrier is 1.609 depth.
I have a NOS Green brand bearing available for $15 that measures 1.82” depth.

Just in general, before you go modifying one part, double check it won't give way to a secondary conflict somewhere else in the system.

For the moment, plan A is going to be oldtime’s bearing as 1.8 is about the same as the old one.

duffer, I searched many bearings at Summit but missed that one. I probably would have bought that one a month ago.

PereL, I was planning on not changing anything until I was back apart and able to test fit.

Thank you Focker. I should have thought of that myself.
