I don't know what the potential differences are, but I have a shifter like this one that Herm sells. If mounted flush to the cover of my T86 case, it does not clear the tranny housing. To solve this, on my parts jeep (dual stick transfercase/T90) the PO had ~3/4" of flat washers between the mounting plate and tranny cover to raise it and give more clearance. Herm also lists a "T90 w/ Single-Lever Transfer Case - Rear Shift Overdrive - $48 (Not shown, similar to above)
" overdrive shifter linkage. Will the one I have (like pictured) work with a single stick transfer case? Has anyone else had problems with interference between tranny and overdrive shift linkage, or OD linkage and single stick TC linkage? My overdrive is a rear shift.

My only experience is trying to use a t90 type linkage on a t18. Didn't work. Got the 4speed style from AA (didn't know Herm yet) and it worked fine. Guess that doesn't help but I got pics if ya want.

Well, I mocked it up this morning and think everything will work. I guess I will have to just go with the stack of flat washer method, and a small amount of relief grinding on the rear of the transmission near the backup light switch. I need that extra 1/2" of height to clear the case.

would use 1/2" plate and make a spacer. not a big fan of stacks of washers.

Heres how mine came out with the T14 after the twinstick swap. Basically I just cut down the old linkage rod and bent it a little. Works great. Not sure if this is of any help with the T90 linkage though...

I completely agree and and thought about the same earlier today. Even walked around the hardware store for an hour looking for something I could modify/use. I have no tools for that kind of work. My willy's points are zilch (according to my wife) after new clutch, tranny rebuild, transfer case rebuild, all the associated cleaning supplies, and a few new tools to do the work all in the past month (plus a new Supertop about 2.5 months ago).

I told her I was going to have something made and she asked why the stacks of washers wouldn't work ;)

I decided that since the shifter mount is so easy to access (and will not even really be used if I leave the OD engaged), I would let her win for today, then a few months later when my willy's ponits have accumulated I will have a plate made. Make sense to anyone but me?

I went through the same thing. I had my Tcase and tranny rebuilt by Herm and also bought the overdrive from him. I could not get the linkage that he sent me to work at all. I finally got fed up and bought the AA kit.

I know this is an old post, but I also can't get Herm's lever's to work w/ my T-14. Wonder how many others have had this problem.

i ended up making a new baseplate, and shortening the shiftrod on mine, since herm doesn't carry a twin stick/T14 shifter.

I ended up using my t86 shifter with the shortned 14 rod. I had to grind more clearence so I could shift out of OD. I think my picks are still in the fab section. if not pm me and we can work something out via email.
