I am in need of a 1974 model steering column that mounts to the fire wall with no tilt or ignition switch on column. I am changing my cj3b steering to a saginaw type steering. This is the best set up for my rig. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks Chad E.

Junkyard or Ebay will probably be your best bet for finding one.

Where are ya located? Someone near you might now of a junkyard with one. If you're anywhere near SC, I can point you to several yards that have them...

    Budget dictates here:
Cheap - GM column from Pontiac, Buick, or Camero without the auto shifter.

More $$ but much better - IDIDIT or Flaming River Columns. Work real nice and I am starting to think cheaper in the long run based on the amount of work to get some of the others going.

What Warlock said. But if you do choose to go the junkyard route nore that GM started using column key switches in 69. That being said IF you do find one its gonna be over 35 years old and in poor shape or if it's not will be for a "classic" and be expensive. You might check in the super Chevy and Camaro magazine a guy I met once said he bought them pretty reasonable(cheaper tha a IDIDIT or Flamining River) from a vendor that he found there.HTH

Look for a postal Jeep. Their columns ar the same as the 72-75 CJ AFAIK. Other members here have used this setup - hopefully they will comment.

Maybe try http://www.postaljeep.net/ (in Alabama) for a column, depending on your location.

Just finished installing my postal Jeep column, fit fine, the same basic setup as the 72-75 column, with minor differences. The website listed above is for AAA motors in Boaz Alabama, he is about 4 miles from my house, a nice honest guy. he deals specifically in Postal Jeeps, complete refurb at there little factory so to speak, he buys old ones refurbs them and then sells them back to rural postal carriers. he stocks tons of parts and at any given time there will be more than 150 -200 jeeps in his yard and usually about 10 on his little lot to sell as postal carriers.
