    I’ve been smelling the v6 pretty rich for a while now. I tried adjusting the air and fuel with a vacuum gauge I have somewhere around 16-17 it still smells very rich. I pulled the plugs and they are very black. Should I put new plugs in and see what happens?

    Rochester 2G? First thing check your timing to see if it has slipped / late. Second usual suspect float level / bad float. Third ethanol deteriorated parts or gummed up pump discharge. 16-17" ok at idle is fuel dripping from the main venturi's?

    Yes that’s correct Rochester 2g fuels dripping from the not sure I will check on that. The float level can not be adjust while running like a holley is that correct ?

    Also keep in mind that adjusting the idle mix screws does not have any affect on the mixture at higher rpm. That is controlled by the main jets, power valve and accel pump. Is the running rich something new or has it always done it? Could need smaller main jets, could be the power valve and piston....

    Haven’t always been because I put the old plugs back in and they were normal. The new one maybe 600 miles on them are covered in carbon. I bought a this carb off of eBay specifically for a dauntless it ran fine until about 3 months ago. I’d say I. Total maybe 3-4000 miles on it. Time for a rebuild/clean already ?

    Lotsa stuff to check there. I'd pull it and go through it. Jet size, float setting etc etc

    Good guy. I used his kit. Between the printed instructions and vids 2G's are easy.

    I'm not the OP, but my Dauntless 225 with a Rochester 2G has fuel dripping from the main venturis at idle. What's that mean? Float too high? It seems to run OK, but I suspect I'm also running quite rich. Seeing about 17" of vacuum as is the OP but I'm also not running the stock cam (TA Performance's RV cam - made by Crower)

    Search YouTube for Mike's Carburetor Parts. He has a vid specifically on 2G flooding.

    Assuming the choke is completely open;
    Venturi drips are usually caused by excessive float height. This can happen due to excessive fuel pump pressure, debris in the needle and seat, maladjusted float height, or the throttle plates too far open (such as retarded timing causing excessively low idle speed).
    While you can rebuild the carb, I would start by removing the lid and check the float height and cleaning the needle and seat, then insuring the timing is correct and readjusting the idle speed. You can check the pressure using a vac/pressure combo gauge.

    It's a Fine 'ol carburetor , from my experience. Just take your time whenever you rebuild. Clean well & then reassemble clean. BTW, How's your wires & do you have the correct plugs ?

    Yes everything is fairly new it’s an hei conversion that’s about 3 years old. When I did the updated I put in auto lite platinum plugs they looked fine when I took them out I switched to the e3 plugs over the summer, I don’t even think they are salvageable at this point they are really black
