For those who have converted a Dauntless to HEI, what did you do to hold the plug wires? I don't think the stock plug wire looms on the V6 will work for 8mm wires.

Twist the ears slightly to enlarge the holding slot.

With the HEI, I would be a little reluctant to use any grounded metal loom directly on the wires. On my latest sbc I used Taylor loom separators and built my own brackets for them. The Square Deal

The other extreme is my buddy's wagon and his baling twine tied off the radiator support rods------

Can you give me a clue about FLAPS?
I keep seeing it referred to but haven't found a link or company name to search.

I am running 8mm wires in my stock looms....I sprayed the wire holdes in high-temp plasti-dip in hopes that the rubberized(?) plasti-dip coating would help with insulating any grounding issues (no idea if it helps). I only use the wire holders along the side of the valve cover and not the ones along the top - my useless idea that it helps reduce the chance of grounding issues. I don't run HEI anyway, and with suppression wires haven't had any issues....I am trying to figure out how to run decent wires on the sbc - thinking the standard looms from FLAPS but no fixed point wire holders.

Does it have the ram horn manifolds? The ones that go over the top of the spark plugs? Those can be difficult to run spark plug wires. Otherwise, there's lots and lots of options for small block Chevy…

yup it has OEM ram horm manifolds....seems like there is two options: 1) long wires that go kind of along and down the firewall and get to the plugs from the under the manifolds and 2) shorter plug wires that go across the valve covers and somehow go down behind the manifolds?

#1 is how GM did it, stock. These wires have 90 degree plug boots.
I've also seen guys use aftermarket looms that run down the side of the valve covers and over the manifolds, these use straight boots to keep the wires away from the manifolds.

If you're not going for the "stock" look, my post in this thread (#3) has a link to how I did mine.

    Simple and clean.
