I seem to recall that pedal in my 1964 Gladiator.

My 70 has the hanging pedal, I wish it had the floor mounted type. Must have been another mid year 70 change. I believe the intermediate CJ's had them too.

Did/does yours have the hood reflectors? My ‘70 had the reflectors and the floor-mounted pedal. Must’ve been one of the last with the reflectors and first with that pedal.

Wagoneer. They were used in other Jeeps too. As mentioned above, they appeared in the CJ for a while. Intermediates are different - Jeep switched to a suspended pedal by '72, supposedly for safety reasons.

Unlikely you will find a matching replacement for a reasonable price.

My 71 uses that pedal. I think it's the coolest pedal ever. Been watching for a replacement, on and off, for years and I either have missed them all or they are made from unobtainium.

You could try the Wagoneer sites. Might be one available from a part-out. Or there are at least two all-Wagoneer junkyards. Don't tell them it's for a baby Jeep.

Same as my 71. The pedal uses two stationary balls that it snaps on to at the base. The balls serve as a hinge. The pedals fail when the plastic gets old and break out around the balls. Mine has broken and is just getting by on gravity.

At some point I intend to get a hinge to secure the pedal back down. I may also whittle out a new pedal to use with the new hinge.

For future reference, if looking for function over period correctness, this might be another option. This is the one from my 64 Ford truck. Same concept, but a real hinge. It had rubber covering the hinge, but I was getting rust accumulation inside so I cut the rubber off around the hinge so I could shoot it with lube. Mounts to the floor with two bolts.

Your pedal is already broken, without the break on the ball pivots.

It should be solid rubber across here and held down by that plate and two screws. It's clear why they are in demand - they break after 50 years of muddy boots and ozone/UV exposure.

3D printing would be ideal, if there exists a suitable material. The original pedal is hard rubber with a steel backing. The rubber is either bonded-to or molded-around the steel backbone.

Is this something where you can print the mold then insert the steel backer, add rtv or the like.

I don't know if there is a 3d printing material that would hold up to the popping on to the pivot balls.
Here is the back side of mine, you can see where it is broken out and multiple layers of epoxy to try to hold it together.
