    Hi Guys,

Where do you take your block to have it hot tanked?

Where do you get your valve job done?

Need to do these things to my V6. Spun #4 rod bearing on crank. Getting new crank kit from Carquest + gaskets, etc. Thought I would have the block hot tanked, replace freeze plugs, honed and maybe also have them install the crank kit. I can do the heads and outside components. Just don't have the big tools and tanks.

Any ideas that are good and inexpensive and maybe close to me?

    Thanks for your help. :D

I went to Orange County Machining (?) - a very large machine shop next to Disneyland. Always had good service and prices. The original building may now be part of the parking lot though. Maybe they moved.

Because of the hazmat laws, you may find that hot tanking has been replaced with pressure washing. There's a machine like a big dishwasher that can clean 4 sides at once. If your block isn't covered with hard, caked-on gunk (typically from non-detergent oils), you can probably pressure wash it yourself. A machine shop might require on-site washing if you have the block magnefluxed, but cleaning yourself is otherwise ok. Be sure to clean the oil passages with rifle brushes or a piece of rag on the end of a wire.

This isn't rocket science - look/ask around in Big Bear. Failing that, you should be able to find a good place in Redlands or San Berdo.
