Can some one tell me how the castor shims are mounted, I know there is a lug thru the springs that the spring perches locate on, but how long are these and what do they do when the shims become taller than the lug on the springs and are unable to locate the spring perches in relation to the spring and castor shim.
I am wanting to insert a 2* shim in there that will be about 5/32" thick at the high end of the shim where the pin goes thru the shim to locate the perch.

My shim was 1/2 inch thick (no taper yet, have to get it on the road first, 1/2 inch was needed to keep the ball joint from hitting the spring, if I need a angle change I will just add it to my 1/2 inch shim) so I drilled a hole slightly smaller than my pin (I don't recall size) and pressed it in a 1/4 of inch so the pin in the spring went in the other side and my pin located in the spring perch. The pin really needs to be there. I guess you could replace the spring pin with a longer pin to go through the shim and into the spring perch. Just throwing an idea out there! Hope it helps.

I used a washer(s) under the center bolt head. It's been awhile, but if I remember right, I drilled the center hole of the shims to fit the washer(s), and the bolt head fit in the spring perch.

used grade bolts w/larger nut (1/2" rounded off corners) as a spacer to hold the shim.

Longer center pin head would work, as would making a shim and using a longer center pin to hold it to the springpack so the head is completly out of the shim.

I have been toying with the idea of decreasing caster on my yota. Its got around 10* and I think going down to 6 would help. What I want to do is find some steel shims and weld them on to the perches. Seems like the all around best way.

i know it's not what you're suposed to do, but i got shims for my cherokee from summit and the hole was big enough to fit washers snugly inside. so i spaced the head of the centering pin up with washers and threw everything back together. five years, no problems.... knock on wood.

You can get a center bolt with a taller head, or a longer bolt with a collar to make it taller.
