alright, so i took a break from reading to look at my little parts stash that needs to be thinned out and noticed a set of calipers and pads... all that's left is a backing plate, a residual pressure valve, a proportioning valve, and some mc work right?? i'm most likely not going to get round to the actual work anytime soon, but what would i need? the calipers fit the thicker cj rotors, so would i just need a jeep backing plate rom a d-30 or the like?

One of my wheelin buddies did his with Ford disc parts for the rear. Ford used D44's in many of their 1/2 T 4x4 trucks. Warn makes a disc brake caliper bracket for their full floater but they're $100 I don't know why a Chevy caliper and bracket set wouldn't work. Same as a front conversion. That would use the 1 1/8" Jeep rotors. But, I could be wrong.

check your local ford dealer, preferably one that has been around for a long time. some of them behind the parts counter have a book of jeep to ford/ford to jeep part numbers. one of my dads old coworkers has the book but i cant find his number right now.

it is at least worth a call or two.

If you are going to use the thick rotors I believe you need to use the 6 bolt caliper bracket. I got mine from a wrecking yard for $50. They came off a '85 Chevy 1/2T 4x4 You might want to do a search here to see if someone else has already done the rear swap.

If you don't want to hunt around at the junkyard or dealerships, this place has a kit that includes everything you need. http://www.tsmmfg.com/ The price isn't all that bad either, They also have stuff to put in disc brake behind your t-case...

yup, thing is i've a;ready got the hardware for the dana 30 setup minus the caliper mounts, so kits are wayy to expesive for what's left to buy, and the gm swap is great (found all the parts cheap while piling up parts for the dana 30 type swap)...
