Anyone mount their cb overhead on the rollcage? Any pros and cons? Seems like it would be easier to hear and deal with up high. Was thinking of getting a better cb and incorporating a more theft proof mount in the rollcage. Any ideas?

Any preferences on good CBs? Don't really know much about them and don't have a great deal of experience with them.

I bought a Uniden from Amazon.coms electronics site. I'm real happy with it. I have mine mounted on the center spreaders of my roll cage, overhead. I used sef tapping screws to mount a piece of 1/8" x 1 1/2" steel to the spreaders and then mounted the CB bracket to that. I took a piece of 1/8" aluminum sheet and mounted it on top of the CB to keep it out of the direct sun. It's mounted on top of the spreaders.

I have a radio mounted overhead in my truck. I took the top of the radio case off and drilled holes through it into my o/h console. then bolted the radio case to it and then the rest of the radio back into its case. No brackets, saved some space, and looks very clean. just be sure you can't bonk (medical term) your head on a sharp corner if you roll or bump around any. Your right though, its much easier to hear and see, expecially with a bottom mounted speaker.

    *phew*.

Usually it's not a medical term.

As far as it being theft proof, I'm using a slide mount. the radio is hooked up to a slide and the the whole thing slides into a mount kinda like a the old pull out stereos. I just take it out when I'm not gonna use it.
