Anyone whose rebuilt th400

Well my rebuild kit came and ill be starting the rebuilt of the th400 tommorrow, any of you who ahve rebuilt them yourslefs ahve any special tips and trips other than what the manual tells me?

 

Piece of advice: Use common sense and do exactly what each step says exactly when it says to. I just "rebuilt" mine a few months ago. If you need help, put it on the board, I'll try to help. Are you doing a "standard" rebuild, or are you doing the bushings etc?

Soft parts rebuilt, with clutches and steel plates.

Dindt have any forward gears and according to the book that should be a pump problem, since the kit was only 80 bucks figured id rebuild the whole thing rather than assume its the pump and replace only that...

I'll be sure to get plenty of pictures of things I need help on and post them up. Ive torn a few autos apart to send to the scrap but never put any back together before... Only way to learn though is to do, and I dont have 500+ to pay to have it done, so its time to learn.

 

Be extremely careful to not lose any small parts, everything in there has a purpose. I'd put assembly parts in bags or containers and label them. When putting it back together make sure everything is very clean with a coating of tranny fluid.
