I changed my timing chain. Dropped in the distrubutor at as close to where it was before as I could reasonably tell. Proceeded to fire it up. Aparently the distrubutor was one tooth off. The timing was way way back. It backfired hard. Broke the front of the starter housing half way round. Just a word of caution to others.

    X3 Sorry about that.

Just wonder if JB Weld might work on fixing it. At least till you get a new starter. I have done some real strange fixes with that stuff that I thought would never work. And it did.

    No,
Ny brother has a TIG welder. Welds aluminum better than new. I'm just worried about alignment and warpage. I think if we weld about a half inch at a time and let it cool it shouldn't warp at all. Just thought I'd share the experience. By the way I took it to autozone and had them test it on their machine and all electrical turned out to be fine.

Your brother might me more experienced than myself with aluminum welding, but I'd just tack it at the end, let cool, and proceed to do a series of small tacks, letting it cool between each time. Less chance of warping.

If my brother did tig welding I would do the same thing you are doing. Good luck.

don't know which motor you are running, but my :v6: starter has a mount on the side of the block (looks like angle iron), as well as the two bolts on the rear.

The starter nose should be cast aluminum, No problem welding it. Just use a few tacks before welding solid.

I have the 225 V6 also. What is this angle bracket off the starter? I don't have one. Do you have a picture?
