Tarry, did the leak down test. I removed the valve covers and can't tell where leak is from. But before it was from the breather.

    Pounds of leak down:
    1- 60
    6- 11
    5-15
    4-18
    3-6
    2- 10

Think I did test correctly. Used motor to get tdc in firing order.. then looked at location on cap..

So, looks like rings, right? Never seen a cleaner valve train..

OK........but this is an Oddfire 225 right?..........Easy to get confused looking at a Oddfire distributor to find TDC...........

Are those numbers given the percentage of leak? If so then the only one that looks bad is #1 w/ 60% leak?

That's why I said look at the valve action for each cylinder that your checking......can't go wrong that way unless your timing chain or gear is missing some teeth!............Intake opens and closes and the piston is now coming up on the compression stroke ...........take it to TDC or 15 degrees +/- and do your check..........Looking at your numbers I'm confused as to how you were reading the gauge?..............Right way is.... if you have a 100 psi constant on the main guage............the second gauge would read 94 lbs to have a 6% leak...

Tarry, that's correct. Number one is 60 lbs leak. Yes, this is a 225 odd fire. Can't really see valve action while turning the crankshaft bolt, the flex fan is in the way. I can only get from the bottom. Yes, your example of 100 main guage with second showing 94 is correct...

Is odd fire distributor different? This is the first one i've worked on. I just set TDC on number one, and installed cap. And I set plug wires clockwise 1-6-5-4-3-2.... PO had dist advance capped off. And I checked timing and it was set about 20 degrees. Does make some valve or timing chain noise. It's a Delco dist. I replaced old cap, and set same as before. The point window is aligned with number one on the cap. Also, there's no way I could adjust the points with cap on. As the window is at the bottom instead on some pictures ive seen. Could it be installed wrong? The cap only goes on this position.

    Thanks for your help,

    Chris

Probably need to have two guys if your turning it over from the bottom...or a starter push button remote jumped into the starter wires...need to watch the valve action.....If done correctly both valves closed at TDC the only one that looks real bad is #1 @ 60% leak..........if it was coming from the breather before.......then stick the valve covers back on and get yourself a short length of 3/4" rubber hose and stick one end in the breaker hole and the other end up against your ear.......Crankcase leak normally rings.........try adding some motor oil to that # 1 hole at TDC and perform the test again........if it seals up or the number improves it's probably a broken ring or?

Has this motor been running before?............Odd Fire Distributor is different as compared to an even-fired motor Distributor.......as well as the cap is different. Wiring the cap has to be done correctly........( take a look in the forums Technical section)

Tarry, I have a remote starter. I'll give it a try. The motor runs, but it wasn't smoking when I got it. Think the guy did something to calm the smoke. The plug in number one is oiled, and a couple others Iook like gas fouled (rubs off)..

On the distributor: this has been a hassle. From the wrong cap, to not lining up right. Finocj sent me a picture and his cap is in different location. Not sure if it's the Same model though.. it is hard to start...
    Thanks, Chris
