I put a few tbsp of ATF on each piston. Any harm in draining oil, refill with ATF and spin oil pump with a drill? It'll be a while before I can try to coax it to roll, figured to get something working sooner rather than later.

Go for it...I allways put enough to cover the piston and wait a week or so and turn a hard wood dowel to go in the hole, then put in each hole give her a few wacks with a sledge lovingly...wait a few days and have at it,keep moving it from hole to hole...:waiting:

Had one F134 filled with ATF for a week. 3 cylinders started draining, one would not. unbolted connecting rods from crank and could'nt get the one out. A couple more weeks of soaking, started to move some. Made a round disc from wood and hit with dead blow. Kept getting stuck. My wife said, "I'm going to the store, you need anything?" I thought and said, "some dry ice".
With the engine on the stand, I packed the piston with dry ice and tapped on the piston while my son pulled down on the connecting rod and out it came.
    It worked.

Personally I've never had much luck with the results on the cylinder walls or pistons skirts after getting one unstuck , never found anything that would dissolve the corrosion enough...............If it's carbon , rust or both doesn't take much to scar the block up to the point that even boring it .060 over would save it.................not that I haven't tried?

The ones that I have tackled only had a light ring of rust on the rings,I agree that heavy rust and pitting is another ball game.Always worth a try....

Dry Ice, Great idea. How did the cylinder look after you got the piston out? My Brother use dry ice to replace valve seats in aluminum heads on Harleys. He would shrink the seats and heat the heads, made a piolet for the guides and whack the seats in place. good Luck

The one time I freed an engine, we filled the water jacket with boiling water before applying force. It worked.

In my case the piston would only go so far and then stop. The dry ice let it come out the bottom. Still have to re-assemble all the parts after the machine work.

I used the dead blow hammer on a wooden disc. I did finess it somewhat, up and down until I used the dry ice and sent the piston through the bottom.

I found a 20# sledge at work, it was all rusty and no one had touched it in years. I took it home and restored it Painted it red, it is now a great Door Stop, friends can't believe there is such a tool. Good luck

I always start with something like PB, or liquid wrench, sprayed through
Spark plug hole.its thinner than ATF. 3-4 days of this, then try to turn crank.
Diesel also works. PB has a rust desolving effect.
