I used american colectors in cherry hill for my tbird. took longer to drive the half hour to the office than to get a legal nj card. I plan to use them for the cj as well. I did have pictures, but the bird was in primer grey and had no interior at the time.

I plan to do the same with the cj. when I asked about it he said no problem.

They do have a minimum value of 3k for your car, but the rates are cheap regardless. About $80 a year for the bird with an agreed value of 8k. Its a lot better than the 1200 a year I get quoted for my daily driver. (that is a requirement. must have a fully insured DD) Anything with them is for pleasure driving only and a max of 2500 on the odometer. per year.

It allows me to drive around occasionally with out paying NJ rates I love it.

I tried American Collectorsand the estimate premium for the Jeep was $682.00 for the year! Interestingly enough I got a response from Hagerty yesterday and they approved a policy for $75.00 per year and I'm going with them.

How'd you swing that? No roll cage, lift kit, or fuzzy dice on your Jeep?

I told them it was for pleasure use only and not off road. I had to send them pictures and that was it. I told them it would only go about 2500 miles a year which will be about right.

Alright, so I'm glad that other people have had this problem too. I just got my '56 and I'm trying to get it registered in CO but I can't find insurance. My Silverado is insured with AIG and they won't touch my 81" beauty with a ten foot pole due to safety reasons. When I told them that it had a 351W and 33's on it, they almost hung up on me. I've looked at Hagerty and Grundy but both appear to have stipulations that the vehicle be garaged. It's a Jeep. It's loud and it smells but I do want to drive it around town here and there when the weather is nice.
I'm 27 yo, single and backed into someone in a parking lot 2.5 years ago with my truck. Am I a hopeless case???

State Farm's never turned me down, even when I was 23 single and w/ a '68 Firebird, then the '62 CJ-5 and '69 Commando. They never batted an eye. Just asked for pics and a stated value.

Dang...reading all this is making me sad. I'm 24 with a perfect driving record and I'm paying $1294 a year for just liability on my ECJ5. My '87 F-250 is $994 a year for just liability. Now with the price of gas, I can't afford to drive anything anymore!!!!!!!
