Need Help Identifying Seats In My '62 Cj5 (correct Vintage?)

As I get deeper into fixing/tweaking this cool little Jeep, I'm realizing that it is somewhat of a Frankenstein. I'm sure I'm not alone.
The good thing is that the non period-correct mods are things that I would have done myself. My hat is off to the PO. I love the Dauntless. The electric rad fan is nice to have as I figure out the 225's temperament on 90°+ days. I'm glad the wheels and tires - pretty much the whole exterior isn't too much of a departure from the original look.
This brings me to the seats. Although I have a new pair of low back Smitty's on standby, I really like the M look of the canvas seats... to the point where I don't want to replace them with vinyl - even if the Smitty's would undoubtedly be more comfortable. The Olive canvas is totally shot however.
As I search for "canvas seat covers" for a '62 CJ5, I'm not coming up with too much. Walck's only shows vinyl covers that cover the seat backs.
So my question is: Were there two styles of seats for '62: canvas over foam with open backs like mine; and vinyl over springs and batting with covered backs? Most images of original CJ5's show vinyl seats - much more contemporary than the basic canvas Army-style seats that are in my CJ.

Here's what I have (please excuse the in-a-pinch Walmart clearance cushions).

Those seats are from a either military jeep or an earlier model 2/3 CJ, they were not used on CJ5's.

If you want to retain them new covers are available from Beachwood Canvas but you'll need to identify specifically what they came from as the seat designs did vary a bit.

I thought the driver's side was the 2/3 side, and the smaller 1/3 side flipped forward for toolbox and rear seat access. Those look like M38A1 seats to me.

The driver's side straddles the gas tank and bolts down in 4 places. The pass. seat flips forward on a pivot to reveal the storage box. I'm guessing that's the same feature as the factory '62 seats.

The first CJ-5 had the flat cushion buckets like this, but there was an optional 60/40 (or 2/3-1/3) bench front seat as well. IIRC the 40% side flips forward, and may be the same as the flat cushiop bucket seat. These are not 60/40 seats.

Could be that the first CJ seats were the same frames and cushions as the M38A1 seats, but I thought they had black vinyl covers from the factory. The M38A1 had OD canvas, like this.

CJ5's did not share seats with the the M38A1 that I'm aware of- even sales literature based on the prototypes shows the civvy style spring seats.

No. The military seats are much smaller.

They are however interchangeable, I believe, as far as mounting is concerned

As mentioned previously, the seats pictured are not original to a CJ5. Your seats have "pans" as a backing that were used with the military and possibly some early flat fender models.
Your '62 would have originally had tube-frames with tied coil springs and batting, covered with vinyl. Most CJs of your vintage came with separate buckets, but the split bench (60/40) were optional.

Thanks for the quick and insightful replies! I'm new here but I'm quickly realizing that this is a well informed and helpful community.
I may give Beachwood a call with measurements of the bases and backs. Considering that they make the covers for all of the early Jeeps, they could probably quickly identify what I have and the correct replacement canvas.

Ended up contacting Dave at WeeBee Webbing/ODcloth.com with some pics of my seats and frames. He said that my seat frames are the norm for M38, M38A1 and CJ2A, CJ3A, CJ3B, so I ordered a set of covers. Very reasonable.
Nice quality and workmanship. They're sticklers for the military spec materials, patterns and treatment. The treatment on the OD duck fabric has a unique smell to it that I'm starting to get used to. The interior of my Jeep will have that "MB smell" for the next several months I suspect.
Anyway it's not perfect, but a vast improvement over my old torn seats:
