I’m trying to remove my drums to replace the brake pads. This is on a 1960 CJ5. The driver side came off easily. The passenger side is not coming off. I’ve read through a few posts and saw that the hub/drum can be removed together since they are rushed together. I have the the big socket for the wheel bearing but but there is another piece before I get to the nut. Is there a way to remove that without this tool pictured? I have the service manual and I’m guessing this is the axle shaft flange.

    Thanks for any advice.

1'st picture . is the drag nut for warn lock o matics hubs
clean out the little holes . you should find allen screws in two of them
there is a special washer under nut . that the screws fits
remove screws and take a punch and loosen
    Walcks now sells these items

Save those special parts! If you have Lock o Matic hubs, they are necessary for proper operation. If you have some other type hubs or drive plates, you don't need the smooth outer drag nut and special washer. If this is the case, a pair of hex nuts and tab washer is correct.
If you do not need the drag nuts, I would love to take them off your hands (and supply you the regular nuts). I have some Lock o Matics that don't have the special nuts.
