I'm changing all my fluids and was wondering which gear oil I should use. I'm leaning more toward the 85W140 since it is just slightly thicker and my Jeep gets driven only during the summer and usually at highway speeds. Is there any downside to using the heavier oil?

If you were in TX or somewhere hot like that I'd say the 85-140 but for where you live 80-90 should be fine IMO.

I agree with Sparky, FT.Worth Gear & Axle recommends 85w140 in Texas and other hot climates . I would stay with the 80w90.
