Cj5 Front Spring Hangers.

Something a little screwed up with location of my front springs hanger brackets. I noticed the front spring shackles were not parallel side vs side. IT seems these front hanger brackets have been welded over the factory welding. The dimension between the spring eye bolts are not the same, one side 5/16 shorter than the other side. I believe this dim should be 38.5 inches.
Anyway, not sure how much of a problem this situation will cause, but seems relatively easy to fix: remove hanger brackets, relocate to proper position weld back on.
Any thoughts!!!

 

Wonder if that was a correction the PO tried for Jeep lean?

 

To me something like this just presents more questions. Were both sides modified or just one? What is the condition of the springs, and are they the same spring on each side? Were the spring hangers moved as well, or only the shackle hangers? How is the ride? Front axle centered? How about the frame quality? Is the shackle angle the same on level ground on both sides? In the pic the upper shackle bolt does not look centered...how are your bushings?

From the pics, although hard to tell, it looks like its got old leaf springs with many thin leaves. If you need new springs anyway, I think that would be the first step towards getting things uniform and symmetrical. 38.5 inches is the proper factory hanger to hanger measurement.
