Fuel vent line

Any ideas out there on what to use to replace the 3/4 ID vent line off the intermediate tank that mounts back into the filler hose?

I have looked all over for flexible 3/4 ID fuel rated hose, but found nothing that you could use a band clamp on (all have steel inside and won't tighten that way -- plus they aint all that flexible).

My old one finally gave way and coated the back end with fuel (not to mention the lovely smell in the garage this morning).

    Thanks,

The Wagoneer and J-truck owners have this problem too. The usual fix is to get some straight fuel filler hose and use steel tubing for the bent part. The rubber fuel filler hose is used on boats and big trucks - you have to look around to find it. Muffler shops can make larger filler neck pipes; maybe not 3/4" OD though. You'll have to use your ingenuity for that part... copper, EMT, something.

I just stopped by NAPA and told them what I needed and he pulled out an old roll; the fuel rated stuff ain't cheap, but they had it.

    Try any local old FLAPS.

    Thanks,

Found a fuel supply place that had an online catalog after asking a gas station about where they get their parts. Even though it is flexible, it still crimps, so your idea about 1 or 2 90 degree elbows is a good one.

I figured since it is a vent line, it wouldn't see very much actual gas, so I used regular rubber hose...

    FWIW.

I don't think that's a very good solution, unless the hose is fuel/vapor rated.

I was told the same thing. And, based on experience, you get a *lot* of gas splashed into this vent line with a 1/2 or full tank -- that's how I noticed my problem.

The hose came yesterday and is Goodyear with a single steel strand inside to help prevent crimping. But I still went to Lowes and got some 45 and 90 degree elbows.

I found some at an industrial supply shop...those places that service the hydraulic guys...

Gonna have to source it again soon as I have to reinstall the rear mounted tank into SSDutch, and as I locate the filler differently from OE I need universal hose.
