cj6 vs cj5 body mounts

    I'm looking for a new body mount kit for my '74 cj6. Would I be able to use a cj5 kit for this or does the 6 have an extra set where the 20 inches was added?

    Robb - I was looking at them yesterday as I need a new set on the 6 also. The kits that 4WD and Krage sell all say they have enough for the 6.

    BTW - Krage has the kits for $65, while 4WD is $99. I haven't wanted to order from Krage in the past but that's a huge difference in price.

    Guys. I would use the Prothane set on page 135 of the 4wd catalog, the early cj5 kit has 14 pieces, it takes 2 of them for the grill frame,they are round and about 5/8" thick. The 72-75 cj5 kit has 18 pieces. You can get them in black or red, they are $29.95-$32.95 (Dutch price) for each kit respectively. I put the early 5 kit on mine.

    Hmm..they don't list a CJ6 application. Did your set have extra Mike?

    And no bolts, which I'll need.

    No but you could call about the 72-75 model set and it has 4 more than the early 5 set did. I agree with Patrick get stainless body bolts and washers.

    Some times it pays to go all out.:D Especially in rust country.
    I don't know, I tend to use a lot of stainless bolt/ nuts/ washers anymore. Heck, I just put mudflaps on my truck (gotta protect my new trailer) and I used all stainless allen head bolts and nylock nuts.....

    edit- I guess it's easier because Dad keeps a supply of them.......
    How many 1/4 20 bolts are there on an old Jeep, and how many more have you added, for example? Dad buys them in boxes of 50 and 100 from Barnhill Bolt...

    Sometimes Dutch means paying more and buying once rather then buying at half the cost but replacing them every 3-8 years.;)

    Alright alright...just ordered the Prothane bushings and the Totally Stainless 400pc hardware kit.....:rofl: ;)

    FWIW - on those two items 4WD Hardware was $6 cheaper on the bushings than Krage, and they were the same price on the stainless kit and shipping.
