I'm considering switching back to headers. 225 V6. In the past I have had several sets of Hedmans but they were low quality, thin metal and had poor welds. I had 1 set of Hooker headers and they never failed. Time frame is the late 70s, 80s, early 90s.

Are Hedman headers any better these days? Are Advance adapters better?

Hooker doesn't make them for the 225/231 anymore. Not that I can find anyway.

the only thing I can say about hedmans headers is the ball on the collect is far better than the old header gasket design
that being said . last set has been on jeep 10 years now . but I only drive it on weekend now a days
This is set # 3 . in the last 36 years . all of the other ones always rotted out at collector

The Hedman headers that I have with the ball/socket collector seem fine.I did have them ceramic coated and used REM-FLEX gaskets. I believe they will last a long time.

Advance adapters are heavier built all around. That being said I don’t have them yet, my Hedman’s have been on my Jeep for over 20 years. They have a hole now in the collector weld where all the pipes meet the collector.

Wasn't someone here working on/developing some shorty or block hugger headers for production by a larger company? It was a little while back.

Here it is. Just a thought. Not a direct answer to your Hedman question though.

    Dauntless block huggers

I just did that to a set of Hooker Headers I have. It turned out great. The Jeep is much cooler inside.

I also use the AA Headers - they are nice and heavy, but I went for the ceramic coated as well.

I had a set of AA headers on my '69 before the Hedmans.Nice heavy built flanges and tubes,For what ever reason I did end up with cracks in the tubes and welded up to repair. No big deal just saying things happen. Also just wondering if anyone on here has used the REM-FLEX gaskets that I have mentioned a few times.Once you use them you will never use anything else. How about it ? mike
