Does anyone have a source to decipher trim codes? My original color code is 385 which I believe is Empire Blue poly, and I guess trim is universal CJ5 V6? (I found a trim decal for a 1965 CJ5 with my correct paint code and 234 trim don't know if they carried trim code into 1967 or not.)

    Thanks, Vince

I can decode '74 and up, but I don't have a book old enough for a '65. You need the factory parts book. There is a vendor that makes the trim tags, if you can figure out what codes you need.

Paint code 385 is Empire Blue Poly (metallic). The "trim" refers to the upholstery color and pattern. My parts book does not list 234 as an option. A blue CJ5 likely had a black, blue, or charcoal seats. There are three shades of blue; Nordic, Marlin, or Peacock. The parts book does list 254 which is Charcoal.

I rechecked the posting for the trim tag and it definitely is stamped 385 for paint, 234 for trim for a 1965 cj5.
I am going to research a little and see if I can find out some more info on codes. My paint color inside the tool box is definitely Empire Blue Poly according to paint chips I have viewed.
    Thanks, Vince

Like Donny says no "230's" numbers listed for trim codes.

This does not indicate the 234 code for 65. Not sure if these listed are specific to CJ3B or to all CJs.
My 65 TP had a trim code of 172. It was red vinyl 1/3-2/3 seat. 172 is not listed so I may be wasting time with this post.

The trim code is for your upholstery, namely seats, not paint.... if that's what you're thinking

My 65 CJ which was purchased new in 66 had #223 Nordic Blue Poly.......which was correct and #200 on the trim......which had 70/30 seats in Blue vinyl.....which does't seem to correspond with the book at least for 65? This Jeep also had all the factory Chrome trim on it that is normally found on the Tuxedo Parks which lends it to coming with a chrome trim option as some have noted was either factory or dealer installed?...........................Replacement data plates also shown......

Your paint code of 226 is Presidential Red, and the 172 trim is Presidential Red, pleated. Pleated is usually an approx 1 1/2" wide pleat as found on the Tuxes.
The trim numbers are found in the parts manual under "Group 31-7a, Trim Codes for Seats and Tim Options".

You have the paint code correct with 223 being Nordic Blue. My paint reference shows Nordic Blue Poly available for '63 through '65 model years.
Your 200 trim code is for Nordic Blue for the upholstery. See above post for reference.
Tux trim could be purchased from the dealer, item at a time. Did yours have the chrome wiper stand-offs at the top of the w/s frame? How about the chrome tailgate chains with blue sleeves? These two Tux items often got overlooked when "making" a CJ5 into a Tux. It sounds like yours had the correct seats.

Donny............had all the chrome trim like: wipers, the latch at top of windshield, the loop on the hood for the latch, windshield hooks & latches inside, glove box, windshield, hood & tailgate hinges, mirror brackets & arm & mirror, spring hood latches, tailgate chains and covers all the little 1/2" bolts that held the dash and firewall pieces together were also chromed...........

After I had it for a while , I then chromed the windshield frame and new front warn bumper and other small parts inside the cab.............quite honestly at the time I bought it I thought that all the parts that were chromed on it were just the way they came?.......
