My '54 did exactly this 3 weeks ago. Water pump was an easy fix. BTW - I bought an Airtex branded pump from Amazon for dirt cheap. It looked well built with a cast pulley and decent looking machined surfaces. One difference I noticed was the weep hole at the seal is small and round vs rectangular. We'll see how long the seal lasts.

I have had the same Airtex pump in my Jeep for about 2 years. Seems to be holding up well.

Hey guys. Just got back to town (and internet reception). I will look at the bubbles tomorrow when i start it. Going to order a new waterpump. If the seal needs to be replaced, im going to do the pump at the same time.

The seal is in the pump, so new pump means seal too. :) AC should be fine, just gotta make sure the pulley is the right width. Get the proper width belt also.

Any body running the f134 motor have a pic of their water pump? Mine has 2 channels for belts. The ones online have 1. Im concerned a new one wont line up with my alternator?

The second belt groove on your pump was for an accessory, probably a smog pump. A single-groove pump will work fine.

I agree with Glenn. Your belt is too narrow for the pulleys. May not be an option to change it if your alternator pulley is narrow. Look at your crank pulley. You should have one of three variants: single wide groove, dbl-groove wide & narrow, dbl-groove narrow (military). Unless you have the dbl-groove narrow belt crank pulley, the pump for a single belt is what you want. I think you can also get a wide-groove pulley for your alternator.

I have a temp gauge directly connected on the engine. Maybe it can cause a problem one day, this is the same as on Willys army.
My temps in between 140 and 190.
If you have steam, it is maybe because your engine is too hot (no good) or you can have a leak going on the exhaust pipe so it makes vapor.

    Ummm… No.
    OEM spec is 11/16" wide, 42-⅝" long, 38º V-angle.

The stock belt rides higher in the pulley groove. V-belts must wedge against sides of the groove for their traction, and not bottom in it.

(Yours as shown is 17/32" wide, versus 22/32' OEM)

20161003_183512.jpg My cap says 1.1. I assume thats the lb's you are talking about. This water pump looks rough. It was severely leaking out the hole shown.

Big belt on left to run water pump and alternator, skinny belt on right to run power steering.

After an eveneing of jeep wrenching and knuckle cutting, i like to relax with a goofy beer to make me forget my jeep woes. I think this takes the cake as far as "goofy beer" goes.

1.1 probably is refering to 1.1 bar, which is 15.9542 psi. Get a lower rated cap. That's too high IMO.

New water pump installed, and everything that went with it. There was some slight popping noises during startup. I assumed it was the channels in the radiator filling up with fluid? 20161007_154551.jpg
