    Its a koenig.
I had a half top koenig for my 2A then found a matching kenig full top, no doors for a cj5. I cut the back flange off the half top, cut the front off the cj5 top and had them welded together. Roll up windows and good door latches. Small windows and always felt top heavy and like I was in a tin can. Needed the top because I lived in Olympia Washington at the time and it rains there a lot in the winter.

500 bucks max. Part the rest out, get it for free in the end? Nothing is really free though. If it doesn't have the doors, show yourself the door.

Are there any factory diagrams for a Koenig top with the dimensions on them? Because I could probably make on out of wood I would just like to have something to go by.

Can't you just build it to fit your Jeep?

I paid $200 (from a member) for a complete top with ALL the hard to find parts. I've been busy with non Jeep projects, but hope to get back to it soon.

The grill is from a newer Jeep, looks like it has been changed, the rest has been picked over. I think I would offer a real low price for the whole Jeep, if he goes for it you may be able to sell enough parts to get the top free. He has more Jeeps setting around so he has taken what he wanted, and is trying to dump it. Also the windshield on newer Jeep is leaned back a little more, so it does not fit the newer Jeeps, I went through with a soft top I had for sale. I don't know what year they changer the windshield but it was in the 70's I think.

IMO it's not worth even near that.

Keep looking. The main problem with a hard top is shipping. Find something near to you, to avoid shipping issues. I would look for a Meyer Cab with all the parts you'll need.

Yes, but it needs complete refinishing, and it's a Koenig... who knows how old it is, and the windows are tiny. And some of the glass is broken. To me you'd be buying an albatross to hang around your neck. Sitting on the ground like that, it will not weather well. Off the Jeep, it's hard to make sure you have all the needed pieces for installation. And I doubt the seller will get anywhere near what he's asking. I predict that it will sit until spring... or longer. If you really want it, make a low-ball offer ($50?) and walk away.

For what he's asking, you should be able to find a newer Meyer that is in better condition, has larger and intact glass, and will cost less in the long run. There aren't a lot of complete hard tops available, but the demand is equally small. Just because something is rare does not make it valuable. Suggest you keep looking, and expand your search in depth and distance. I could not give the top from my CJ-6 away ... I ended up selling the hinges and other pieces that are typically missing from off-the-Jeep Meyer cabs. I still have the big pieces (I have glass, and pretty good doors), and I predict it will all go to scrap someday.

Comment about steel cabs in general. I don't like them. They add a lot of weight up high, and badly affect the feel and handling of the Jeep quite a lot. If you plow with the Jeep, you may want one, but otherwise the soft top is safer on the road, warmer, and quieter (yes). I've had both soft tops and steel cabs (Meyer) and I would not have another steel cab. They are lockable ... but locks are for honest people. An under-seat locker will be more secure if you need lockable storage.

Thanks for that info! I was really going back and forth between the two. Probably will settle on a new soft.

Another comment - because the windows are glass, visibility out of steel cabs in the rain is usually better than a soft top. Water tends to bead on the vinyl windows, and prevents clearly seeing. This is at its worst at night.

Rainex might help - haven't tried it.

That Koenig has small windows, which gives away much of the glass window's advantage IMO.

I'm a fan of the practicality of a hardtop. Roll up windows and glass that doesn't get scratched and cloudy is a big plus. Yes a Jeep can be a whole lot more fun with a soft top, no argument there. I don't agree with the top heavy problem that a lot of people mention either. Your intended use is the key. If you don't need to lock stuff up and can keep the top out of the weather for most of the time a soft top will last a long time. If not then generally several years will start taking a toll on a soft top.

We don't need hard tops out here....
If the soft top is left on and taken care of and the Jeep is stored inside, it will last a long time.
Wear and tear for a soft top comes from constantly taking them on and off and/or not storing them properly when they are off.
Mine is 30+ years old now and some of the threads on the seams are starting to show wear and tear.
