Anyone have half doors on their 55-71 early cj5/M38a1? Are there any other way to mount them without drilling a hole in the body? (Best top door is what I got) or are their doors built different out there?

Drilling a hole in the body for what? Do you mean for the lower pivot? Doesn't your body have it?

I don't know if this is how you're supposed to do it, but when I put my old Bestop on Mighty Mouse, I put the hinge plates in the door jambs, rather than on the sides of the body. I know it doesn't solve the problem, but it makes it a lot less conspicuous.

If this is the normal way, ignore me. :D

I also used small self-tappers that will snap off before doing any major damage to the hardware or body if they kiss a tree.

No I don't have any door mounts nor holes, but what I've been reading was use a hole in body to mount lower mount. Didn't come with a lower hinge only upper. I don't want to drill a hole on the bottom of the door jams. I like the way you mounted yours

That hole in the body lip is what I'm used to, that's why I asked. I do like the way the above picture shows.

Did you modify the door to get it that way? Because I have buckles before the hinge that are on the door. Before buying them, I didn't realize how it were to mount

Just put a top on my Jeep. The hinge mounted in the rabbit of the door frames, just like you show in your pictures

Here's another picture of the Bestop door hinge. On my '66.
Same way mounted, in the channel.

I don't want the doors either, but my wife wants them for her our son and dog.
