    Yes, It's acceptable.
    I could get anal and move the pinion in a hair but I'm not going to, had about enough of that game.

    Hope I didn't miss it somewhere, but just a quick explanation on how that cheaper tool works: By measuring from the cap mount to the saddle then subtracting the radius of the bearing race. That gives you the difference the cap mount is from the axle centerline whether it's +/-. Then you measure pinion depth and calculate that using the measurement from the cap mount height adjusted to the calculated centerline. Cool thing about that tool it can be use in any application.
