I imagine you will end up with double (or maybe more) than your original figure on the engine. A weekend Jeep still needs to be just as reliable as a daily driver, so personally I wouldn't spare any expense on making it 100% redone. If you don't get there then any money you spend will be wasted which would be worse yet.

This must be the year for white. Now that Jeep is worth looking at.

I agree. Tub doesn't look too bad, but everything will need to be gone through. If you can do the work yourself, I think you can come in under budget.

I gave a call to ED over there on the flat-dry side of the mountain. The first thing I was wondering was about the automatic transmission. His nice wife went hiking out to the shop with the phone and I asked him what transmission it had, and he said TH350. I don't know much about auto's in JEEP's, but the TH350 was used for a long time in a lot of Chevy stuff so it might be okay. BUT-He did not put it in he said, it was put in by the previous owner. Actually the only other owner then him-He bought it 40 years ago when he was a 22 year old and has done nothing to it except have a power steering unit installed. BUT-The JEEP as it sits has a 3 speed manual in it that came stock. His wife put the wrong info in the ad it seems?
Sure not a deal breaker either way but it made my "What" red flag pop up. I always knew what parts were in my JEEP's-seems like knowing that is kinda usual. I mentioned that the tires looked almost new, but were sure different then what you find over on my side of the mountain. Over here it seems like people expect to run into some mud and rocks-over there it seems like it is a hunting JEEP used on his ranch so no need for such things.
Thanks to Focker for the heads up.-I told ED I would get back in touch with him. He had only had it on line for a few minutes and I was the first to call. I will figure out what I want to offer and give him a day or two to have something to compare that with.
Does anybody know what transmission came in '70? Thanks for reading this-looks like a decent little JEEP-it ain't quite like my little '69 with the super T10 4 speed/Hurst Competition Plus Shifter, but I am not young and foolish (maybe still foolish) anymore to where I need to shift anything that hard. LOL WCP

Looks like they got right on updating the ad...That's a sign of a good seller IMO.

It's below your budget and it's virtually a one owner vehicle!

Name it Lil' Red and roll it like you stole it.

He said he is retired now and has no use for the 70 jeep? Seems the opposite for me. Very nice looking jeep.
