I'm putting a '78 grill on a '83 DJ-5M to make it look like an early dj5 and rid of that bulbous tumor-esque postal grill. It fit no problem since the M has an AMC 2.5, but mounting the existing radiator will be an issue. It has slightly different mounts than the CJ5 grill, and it is a bit long to fit in the boxed grill. Is it unheard of to cut the grill to fit it and make mounting brackets? Any experience or advice?

You could use the old one for the opening just cut the new one so the edges of the old one where the radiator fits can be spliced in so the radiator will bolt to the mounts.
