So I have my 75 CJ-5 down to the frame. But...I have found a crack and previous bubba repair on the drivers front. Fortunately its the only one but I need some help on figuring out how to fix it. You can see in the pics that some PO placed a c-channel inside the frame and welded it up horribly. So do I try to cut it out and place a new c-channel inside or outside? I'm kinda at a loss. Any help would be appreciated!

Is that the top or the bottom that has the original chunk of frame busted out? And is that crossmember an add-on as well?

Are you looking to go back to stock? I don't think it will be easy to do that since there is so much shattered metal and huge piles of weld. You can start by getting many 4 1/2 cut off wheels and a grinder and trying to cut out all the added material and see where that gets you. I would just cut it all off and start fresh from a good portion of frame.

Those pics show the bottom side. I ended up cutting out all of the old repair and welded a new piece and boxed the front. Hope it holds up.
