I started poking around the under the tub last night and noticed a view things I had a question about after searching and not finding much info, probably because I am asking the wrong questions!

1.) What size bolts go in the bell housing to the engine? I don't seem to have but 2
2.) What is this function of this petcock (?) valve on the passenger side of the engine?
3.) It looks like some of my lug nut studs are sheared off, what length is appropriate and what lug nut size?

Rookie questions all, and I have a service manual at home, but I am at work and don't have 14 month old crawling over me. Thought I would ask some questions over lunch. Thanks! Bell housing.jpg Pet cock valve.jpg lug nuts.jpg

The bolts are 3/8 x 2.25" I used grade 8, three marks on the head. The fitting is the block drain, it should have a petcock, and the studs you will have to knock out and match them up at a good Auto Parts store. They are 1/2" but the spline is important. Howard is the go to guy for that imfo.

Three marks on the head would be a Grade 5 bolt not a Grade 8 and not saying you need a Grade 8 in that application either............most of the bolts you'll see on the engine and chassis will be NC or Course thread. The fan attachment to the water pump may be the exception which would be NF or Fine thread ...........all of various shank diameters and lengths.

Sorry, Tarry, I knew that but had a Brain Lock, Thanks. I like grade 5, I have a tendency to stretch machine bolts.
