My headers are touching the fender wells on the passenger side. I have a half inch spacer between the frame and transfere case mount, to lower back of motor. I think I may need to lower it more to clear fender. I've already trimmed a lot from inside of well and can't go anymore. Is this odd? The motor and trans seem correctly placed. Has anyone had to space transfer case, for header clearance? I can't seem to upload a picture on this part of forum.

    Thanks, Cole

What motor? What kind of jeep? Tons of unknowns for a good answer.

Sorry, was in a hurry to post..its a CJ3a. I put in a Buick 231 V6, with adapter , stock transmission and transfer case. I mounted it an inch forward and an inch to the passenger side. My only clearance issue so far is the passenger side header wth the fender well. I put a spacer between frame and transfer case mount of a 1/2 inch already. Is it odd, to need that or should I use more of a spacer? I tried to post a picture, but couldn't figure out how.

    Thanks, Cole

If you're using cj5 headers, they don't fit right. They hit the body pretty much any way you place the engine. I tried to make them fit in my 2A and gave up. They just are incorrect for the application. I have looked at the AA and Novak ones. They are expensive, but probably worth it. Right now I am fabbing my own exhaust using some buick manifolds. the hedman hedders I am using suck in a 2A.

I bought them on Craig's list $60.00 used. They came off a 2a. I got them ceramic coated, which cost more than I paid for headers. I didn't see other guys having a problem, or I would have waited to get coated. Then I could have modified pax side header for clearance. I'm pretty good about research, before I do something. But this one surprised me.

To get the passenger side header to clear the body I had to cut off the fender flange. It still didn't fit right. I tried repositioning the engine and wound up having to make the engine very unlevel in the frame rails. I decided that much band aid to make a set of headers work was stupid.

Other people may or may not have trouble. I don't own their jeeps nor did I do the build. I also didn't read about people having problems either, but you and I have had the same issue. I got mine to work before, but it was not the right way to make something.

Good luck ad keep us posted on what you do.

Anyone have a part number for the headers. I have a V6 225 in my cj5 that I want headers for. Outside the frame style. I seen a page on this but can't find the par numbers

I would look around on Craig's list and eBay. I found my set on C/R used for $60.00. Then I had them ceramic coated, which cost me $150.00. The headers give off a ton of heat, so I would consider it. Another thought at this point, would be to bite the bullet and get a set from AA already coated and brand new, made to fit! Some times I pay for being cheap.
