Ive been in the precess of making quite a bit of changes to the 69 cj I have. rebuild M21 trans, swapped front axle, new power steering gear box, steering pump, swapped to hanging pedals, hydro clutch. I put the front retainer on my empty trans and mounted it the bell so I could determine the correct position the clutch fork would be in once everything was installed. I have the pedals in, brake, and clutch master mounted, made a bracket like the one that comes in the kits, marked and drilled the hole for the slave to mount. The issue im having is: The distance from the slave bracket to the clutch fork is only 1 3\4", and 2" where the slave rod sits inside the pocket of the fork. I have about 3/4" free play at the fork before the throwout bearing hits the clutch fingers. I wanted to put the slave on the bracket with the rod in the fork so I could make sure it was a straight shot then mark and drill my holes to bolt the slave to the bracket. once I push the slave up against the bracket to mark the holes, the rod has my clutch fork pushed back to where the throw out bearing is sitting against the clutch fingers. With the slave pushed all the way up against the bracket the slave is bottomed out, with 2" from slave to clutch fork. So do I need to shorten my slave rod so I have free play at the clutch fork so the throw out bearing isn't up against the clutch fingers??? I know a lot of people have to lengthen the slave rod, true or false?
any help will be appreciated!! Thanks

So you think the adjustable pivot ball will cure this issue?

I used a slave and master from Wilwood, so my setup is different, however, I had to use the adjustable pivot ball to get mine to function properly. Bought it from Novak Conversions.
